Microneedling

A natural way to help anti-aging.

Microneedling will naturally rejuvenate wrinkles without any painful surgery or injections. As an acupuncturist specializing in skin rejuvenation and wellness, I am excited to offer a new service to help my patients feel and look their best.

Microneedling is one of the earlier forms of acupuncture. The 7 Star Hammer or Plum Blossom Needle was used since ancient times for healing, rejuvenation and even hair loss.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling Therapy also called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), and Percutaneous (through the skin) Collagen Induction (PCI), is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of the Microneedle Pen.

Our professional grade microneedling pen delivers 18,000 rpm per roll, making it less painful and less traumatic on the skin and it delivers the most effective treatment. The mechanical action of the pen allows the needles to puncture the skin and create a controlled injury at a specific depth. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body’s natural healing process to fill these micro wounds by producing new collagen and elastin in the papillary dermis. In addition, new capillaries are formed for improved blood supply.

With Microneedling, the top layer of the skin is parted without being damaged, leaving the skin intact. It does not “burn” your skin like peels or more invasive lasers. The needle penetration depth can be adjusted from 0.25mm to 2.50mm into the skin depending on the area of the body and the skin condition being treated. Using skin needling consistently will trigger the body’s repair process until the desired level of skin rejuvenation is achieved.

Microneedling results in the production of new collagen and elastin, improvement in skin tone and texture, firmness as well as reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks.

What does Microneedling Treat?

We’ve had great success in addressing and treating the following problems:

What is Nano Needling?

Nano needling treatments use a pen like device that oscillates a tip up and down to stimulate a skin reaction. The oscillating motion treats the skin and the cartridge encompasses 81 silicone tips. It does not puncture the skin and is used in specific cases, or in the more sensitive eye areas to help significantly reduce fine lines and wrinkles with each treatment.

These microscopic hair-like cones separate the cells within the epidermis to allow active products to be pushed into the skin. Nano needling only affects the epidermis, treating within the upper .15 mm of the skin. The benefits of this serum infusion treatment include pigmentation reduction, increased cell turnover, skin rejuvenation and an immediate glow with no downtime. This treatment can be done weekly to exfoliate the skin.

Professional Microneedling versus Home Treatments

The mechanism of action differs between the professional grade devices and home devices. The professional device, AcuMicro, uses a vertical action at 18,000rpm, versus a rolling action or vibrating action that can cause excess damage to the skin.

Microneedling is sanitary procedure, we dispose of the needling head for each and every client and our pen has anti-bacteria backflow technology. Don’t mistake a home dermaroller for a professional microneedling treatment, they are both very different treatments with different results. In general, a dermaroller has a handle with a roller on the end which consists of several small needles that you roll back and forth on your skin. This can be done at home, it costs less but it can be painful as it’s manually powered and often results in user error by puncturing the skin too deep, inconsistently or by spreading bacteria over the skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most patients describe microneedling as a light scratching or vibrating sensation rather than pain. Our professional grade microneedling pen delivers 18,000 rpm, which makes the treatment less painful and less traumatic on the skin, and a numbing cream soothing facial mask is included with every session. Some areas of the face are more sensitive than others, and your comfort is checked throughout the session.

We believe in fair, upfront pricing, so you will always know the cost of your treatment before it begins. All pricing information is available under the “Book Now” button found throughout the page. We kindly ask new patients to schedule a consultation before booking acupuncture. This allows us to understand your current issues and health history, ensuring that acupuncture is a suitable option for you and determine a plan of care. If you have questions about pricing for your situation, call us at (704) 765-6813 and we are happy to walk you through it.

The treatments don’t require any downtime, however you will be red for 24 hours. If you are planning a special occasion, I recommend completing your sessions 2-4 weeks ahead of your event. Limiting sugar, processed foods and alcohol before and during treatment will lower inflammation systemically while reducing any chances of bruising.

You will be given a sheet with aftercare instructions.

Many patients notice a fresh, healthy glow within days of a session. Because microneedling works by supporting your skin’s own collagen production, the fuller results build gradually over the following weeks, with continued improvement across a series of treatments. Results vary from person to person.

Microneedling uses fine needles that reach into the skin to stimulate collagen, which makes it well suited for concerns like scarring, fine lines, and texture. Nano needling works on the very surface of the skin, so it is gentler with no downtime and is great for glow, hydration, and product absorption. Many patients alternate or combine the two, and we can help you decide which fits your goals.

Yes. Red Light Therapy is a popular upgrade to any microneedling session. Microneedling stimulates your skin’s natural collagen production, while red light supports skin cell regeneration and circulation, so the two complement each other well. Ask about adding it when you book, and we can walk you through whether the combination makes sense for your skin.
